The Most 5 Popular Shell Fabric Used for Cooler Bags
Nowadays cooler bag becomes more and more popular in our daily life for lots of occasions, such as lunch tote for adults and kids, backpack cooler for hiking, shopping bag for groceries and etc. As we know, cooler bag is made with 3 layers materials, outer shell fabric, middle insulation, and inner lining. Today let’s talk about the 5 most popular shell fabrics we are using for producing cooler bags.
1.PP woven fabric.
It used widely in making cooler bags, it's with low cost and ok to print multiple colors and sophisticated artworks. Logos and artworks are printed on OPP film and then laminated to the PP woven fabric, which called rotogravure printing. The OPP film is waterproof, and since the printings is not on the surface, you do not need to worry about color fading. It's normally suitable for these bags with full color all over printing designs. The disadvantage is that it takes about 10-15 days to set up the printing rollers, the sample time and bulk production time is long, normally 2 weeks for sample and 45 - 50 days for bulk production. And the printing roller cost is high, so it's only suitable for orders with big quantity, basically at least 5,000 pieces per design, otherwise the unit cost including printing is relatively high.
2.PP non-woven fabric
It is also used a lot to make cooler bags. The logos can be printed on the fabric directly or printed on OPP film and then laminated to the fabric. If it's a small logo printed at 1 or 2 locations, normally it will be printed on fabric directly with silkscreen printing or heat press printing. If it's full color all over printing, then we will use rotogravure printing same as we did on PP woven fabric.
3.Polyester oxford
It is used quite often. There are different specifications like 210D, 300D, 420D, 600D, 900D and 1680D. When the number gets bigger, the fabric is thicher and rougher and stronger. 420D and 600D are used more often. There are plain weave and ripstop structure. We can do some treatment to the fabric to make it waterproof. There are lots of colors available. Most importantly we can print the white color fabric to any color we want. For example, if you need a specific color in small quantity, which is not in stock, and do not meet the MOQ to dye the fabric separately, then we can print the color on white fabric. It's suitable for almost all the printing methods.
4.Canvas fabric
There are 100% cotton canvas, poly-cotton canvas and 100% polyester canvas. Poly-cotton canvas are used more often than the other two. There are different thickness such as 6oz, 8oz, 10oz, 12oz, 14oz, 16oz, 18oz, 20oz and etc, for cooler bags we normally use 10-16oz. It's suitable for silkscreen printing, heat press printing, digital printing and sublimation printing.
5.Nylon fabric
The structure is close to polyester oxford, and there are also different specifications like 210D, 300D, 420D, 600D, 900D and 1680D, but the handfeel is better, and it's more stronger and more expensive for sure. It's suitable for silkscreen printing and heat press printing, do not suitable for full color all over printing like digital printing.
