the accessories used on cooler bags

We have talked about the zippers and webbing used on cooler bags in last 2 articles, today let’s see what other accessories are used on cooler bags.

1.Buckles and D rings

Buckles and D rings are usually used on shoulder carrying cooler bags and backpack cooler bags, so the straps can be detachable and adjustable.

To tell from the materials, there are plastic buckles and metal (zinc alloy) buckles. Plastic buckles can be customized with different colors, generally any colors you want. If you ask which color is used most? Undoubtedly it’s black color. Color of metal buckles can be customized too, the most regular colors are gold, silver, antique brass, gun metal and black. Silver and black color are used very often, other colors are depending on clients’ preference.

There are different shapes of buckles for us to choose from, the functionality is almost same, just meet different clients’ aesthetic idea.

Plastic buckles are cheaper, and zinc alloy buckles are relatively more expensive.  

To tell from the inner diameter size, there are generally 3/8”, 1”, 1 1/4”, 1 1/2”.

3/8” size D ring is used for zipper puller, 1” size ladder lock is used for backpack cooler to adjust the strap length. 1”, 1 1/4” and 1 1/2” buckles are normally used on shoulder straps.

2.Snap buttons

Snap buttons are normally used on shoulder strap holder and pockets for closure.

There are different materials, colors and sizes. Please refer to the following images.

For metal snap buttons, the most popular colors are silver, gold, antique brass, gun metal and black. For cooler bags with light color shell fabrics, we normally use silver color snap buttons, for darker colors we normally use antique brass or gun metal color snap buttons. For plastic snap buttons, colors can be customized as per your request, normally any color you want. White and black are the most used colors. Normally plastic snap buttons color will match with the shell fabric color, sometimes contrasted colors will be used.

The standard sizes are as below:

On cooler bags we normally use 10mm, 12.5mm and 15mm snap buttons.

3.Hook & Loop / Velcros

It is made of Hook side and Loop side, hook side is stiff and loop side is very soft. It’s normally used as handle strap holder closure and pockets closure.

Hook & Loop are mainly made with 3 materials, nylon, polyester and nylon mixed polyester. Nylon velcros is very soft while polyester velcros is more stiff, but nylon velcros is more expensive.

So polyester velcros is used more often.

There are multiple stock colors for us to choose from, and it’s also okay to customize the color you want, you just need to send us the Pantone color number or fabric swatch for color matching. White and black Hook & Loop used a lot during cooler bag production.

There are different width of velcros, like 2cm, 2.5cm, 3cm, 3.8cm, 5cm and etc. On cooler bags we normally use 2.5cm width velcros.
